Help with Escouter
Last updated
Escouter shows what tech costs delivered in Cyprus at the shops that deliver here, and you buy from the shop itself. The answers below cover what a price includes, what its labels mean and how buying works.
Can I buy on Escouter?
No. You buy from the shop, or on Wolt for a shop that sells through it. The link beside a shop's price takes you to the shop's page for the item or, for some shops, adds it to your cart there, and you check out with the shop.
Why is the price different on the shop's website?
The shop may have changed it since we read it: each price shows how long ago that was. Our figure can also include delivery to Cyprus, VAT or import costs that the shop's product page leaves out, and it never includes a discount code or a price for signed-in customers. The shop's checkout has the final total.
What does "Total to your door" include?
The item, its delivery in Cyprus, and any VAT, import VAT, duty or fees that apply, so it's what the item costs you here. Where part of the total is our estimate, or unknown, the product page says so, and how prices are read explains each part.
How up to date are the prices?
Every shop on our schedule is read once a day, and some categories every hour. A price is fresh for 26 hours, then marked stale, and after 7 days it's dimmed and left out of rankings and "cheapest" figures.
Why did delivery change when I entered my postcode?
Some shops charge more for some areas. Without a postcode, the figure is for most addresses; with yours, it's the fee for your area.
What do the labels next to a price mean?
| You see | It means |
|---|---|
| a dash | we don't have the figure, and we never fill a gap with zero or a guess |
| "from" | the shop states only its lowest delivery fee, so the figure uses that fee and delivery can cost more |
| "delivery fee not stated" | the shop doesn't say what delivery to Cyprus costs, so the price leaves delivery out |
| "priced by Wolt for your address" | Wolt works out delivery in its own app |
| "Out of stock at" a shop | it wasn't in stock when we last checked, so there's no price. A pre-order counts as out of stock |
| a stale price | read between 26 hours and 7 days ago. It still counts |
| a dimmed price | read more than 7 days ago. Its stock shows as unknown |
Why can't I find a shop or a product?
We list the shops we read: the ones that deliver to Cyprus and that we've added so far. If a product is missing, none of them sells it, or we haven't matched it to the shop's page yet. A shop that blocks automated reading can only be listed from a price file the shop sends us, or by agreement, because we don't get around blocks.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything on Escouter works without an account. Signing in with Google is optional, and price alerts aren't built yet.
Is Escouter free?
Yes. You pay only the shop, for what you buy there. No shop pays us either, as our about page explains.
Does Escouter track me?
No advertising tracker runs on Escouter. Every page except sign-in, your account, your alerts and the search pages loads Open Analytics, our own statistics counter at analytics-c.ciya.so. It counts the pages you open, how long you stay and how fast each page loads, and it records where on a page you click: a position, the element you clicked and, unless it is a field you type in, that element's text. It also counts seven actions by name: sending a search, viewing a product, adding one to your basket, adding one to compare, saving one, going to a shop and filtering. Each carries only the product, shop or category it is about, the names of the filters you used, a shop link's place in its list or, for a search, how many characters you typed. Your search words do not reach it: the search pages do not load it, and a page you open from a search is told only that you came from Escouter. It sets no cookie and keeps only a random visit number and its own settings in your browser's storage. It never stores your IP address as it is, and it records nothing if your browser has Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control turned on. Our own count of clicks to shops stores no IP address and no cookie. We set a cookie only if you enter a postcode, add something to your basket, save a product or sign in, and each one holds only what that needs. The privacy page has the details.
